LONDON, NY AND CHICAGO REVIEWS

Internationally acclaimed in London, NY and Chicago, RG Productions presented the FringeNYC Fan Favorite and AEA Joseph Jefferson Best Actor Award winning production BEING SEEN by Richard Gustin starring Kelly Anne Clark and 14-time Midwest Emmy winner Will Clinger at the OSO Arts Centre London UK. European premiere. RG Productions was the first international company to be hosted by the OSO Arts Centre during their 25th anniversary season. Being Seen - A Love Letter to the Theatre.

An actor responds to an audition notice and encounters a world-renowned director whose methods might prove to be more than expected. As wits and instincts collide, a battle of words and intentions unfolds, revealing the complexities of the creative process and unfulfilled dreams. A fast-paced biting comedy with a dark underbelly.

“Exhilarating theatre, brilliantly scripted. . .simultaneously comedic and thought-provoking.”

Hy Bender – New York

“There are two excellent reasons to recommend this production: Will Clinger and Kelly Anne Clark. Actually, Clark is so good that she counts double.”

~ Kerry Reid – Chicago’s Reader

“Being Seen is a twisted comedy. . .wickedly smart. . .the conversations are genius. . .never a dull moment. . .the storytelling is sharp and precise.”

~NY Theatre in The Now

“A work of art that explored how fragile the human psyche is. . . a very well-constructed layered play. . .a universal piece that explored the difficulties everyone faces in life and the secret hope that someone sees that little part of them that is hidden and accepts them completely.”

~Sascha Cooper – London Theatre 1

Four Stars

“The Actor dazzles and entertains. . .owning the stage with plenty of comedic timing that has the audience hooked with side-splitting laughter throughout. . .pumped with humour. . .striking theatrical choices and an electric cast.”

~Heidi Downing – London's West End Best Friend

“90 minutes of pure theatre magic.”

~ Al Bresloff “Around The Town Chicago”

“For those who love theater, “Being Seen” is a delicious window into the heart of the actors’ world . . . tension and humor that at its best moments reminded me of Tom Stoppard, with notes of Pinter.

~ Bill Esler – Buzz Center Chicago

“It's a timely piece, especially relevant in our current era of gig workers, toxic politicians, and cancel culture. This delightfully insidious production brings abuse of power to light with equal parts horror and hilarity.”

~ Bonnie Kenaz-Mara – Chicago

“This deeply resonant play is about how, in every sense of the word, that basic human desire is denied, disregarded, degraded, derided, and rendered an utterly absurd fantasy by the arrogant and unfeeling forces that surround us and that express interest in us only as a source of money for whatever often-spurious enterprise or object they are attempting to sell us. . .Clark recounts this bitter experience [as an understudy] in an extended monologue that is as impressive in its own way as one of the most legendary moments in Chicago theatre history, Laurie Metcalf’s equally brilliant and piteous monologue in Lanford Wilson’s great play, “Balm in Gilead.” Being Seen is worth, well, being seen for Clark’s amazingly skillful, energetic and disturbing portrayal alone. . .this marvel of a play. . . this powerful little play. . .”

~ Michael Antman – Theatre in Chicago
